Information on the Hobey Baker Award is available in the HOCKEY-L archives in
a file called HOBEY WINNERS . Included are the previous winners and finalists,
general info on the award itself (including its history), how the balloting
works, award criteria, the selection committee, and a biography of Hobey Baker.
The file was compiled and is updated by Mke Machnik and is available through
Email, gopher, or WWW.
To answer Todd's question, yes, a goalie has won the award -- Minnesota's Robb
Stauber, in 1988. Other goalies who have been finalists include: Neil Little
(RPI), Jamie Ram (Michigan Tech), Dwayne Roloson (Mass Lowell), and Steve
Shields (Michigan), all in 1994; Duane Derksen (Wisconsin) and Darrin Madeley
(Lake Superior) in 1992; Dave Gagnon (Colgate) in 1990; Stauber again in 1989,
along with Bruce Hoffort (Lake Superior); Chris Terreri (Providence) in 1986;
and Cleon Daskalakis (Boston University) in 1984. These are the ones I know
of, anyway... I probably missed a few from the early years.
