6X:XX L Valicevic (XXXX,XXXX)
I didn't bother to look at the clock or listen for
assists following Valicevic's goal. :-(
Mike Stone's goals were the 100th and 101st points
in his career. Wiseman and Oliver end the season
with 69 and 68 points. Wiseman becomes the second
leading scorer in Michigan history with 248.
SUMMARY:
[1] For anyone who thinks Michigan's defense is
better than the Laker defense, go to your
local video store and rent, 1994 NC$$ MEN'S
ICE HOCKEY WEST REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL, GAME
ONE. They were, frankly, the difference in
this game.
[2] Shields was also not at the top of his game.
He will be remembered for having 111 wins,
but never winning the big one.
ADDITIONAL CONTROVERSY:
As if the Northeastern game wasn't enough, Michigan
also outscored Lake Superior in regulation only to
have none of the officials see it. Lacher appeared
to cradle the puck in the net but the goal judge
was screened by Lacher and, typically, neither
referee was in position to make the call.
It happened early in the second period, so I doubt
that it will be remembered as much as Northeastern's.
ST PAUL:
The Lakers have been doing just enough to win. At
the moment, I hope they bring back their second
title in three years.
