Because the institutions being represented on the ice are American ones, not
Canadian, and as all the players are residents in our country if not citizens,
it should be a moot point. Hence that is why it is proper to play the Canadian
anthem when a Canadian team comes to play - they are representing a Canadian
organization.

Besides, by your logic, should we then play the anthem of any and all European
players who happen to be at the game?
