Notice the two different studies agree on this point. The study done by Dr.
Willem Meeuwisse, team Doctor for the Flames said, " We have convincing
evidence that the full visors are safer." The article goes on to say that
facial lacerations increase with the half but neck and injury rates were
identical. BUT, Meeuwisse suggests that concussions are more severe with a
half. This is because more game time was lost, meaning the concussions were
more severe and dental injuries were 10 times higher. He believes this is due
to the fit of the helmet. Full visors keep the helmet on better, whereas
halves make the helmet tilt back.
