Ferris State hockey launched the new college season Thursday night by
blanking Laurentian University, 9-0. The Bulldogs out-shot their
visitors from Sudbury, Ontario, 52-9. Sophomore goalie Jeff Blashill
posted his first collegiate shutout for FSU with 9 saves. Derek Crimin,
Joel Irwin and Brett Colborne each scored twice for Ferris. The
Bulldogs were 7-for-24 (no typo here) on the power play. Ferris will
travel to Minnesota-Duluth next weekend (Oct. 13-14).
