In response to Chuck's question of why Michigan State doesn't play at Lake
Superior State this year, and instead plays at Joe Louis Arena-Detroit:
From what I've heard, Mike Illitch, owner of Red Wings/Joe Louis/Little
Caesar's Pizza entered into some agreement with LSSU/Jeff Jackson where
LSSU agrees to play their scheduled home game vs. MSU down in Detroit,
for which they get a percentage of the gate receipts/and concession sales.
For this, Illitch's concession company (Olympia) will provide pizza (and
maybe all concession products) at the newly-remodeled Norris Center/Taffy
Able Arena. Maybe someone from Sault Ste. Marie could elaborate?
(Sound familiar...Jerry Jones/Cowboys/Nike/Pepsi) Boy, 90's sports
marketing hits "the Soo"...luxury suites, corporate agreements, what next?
Thanks. Todd (ext.2706)
