RPI BATTLES BACK TO STOP HARVARD IN OT. 8-7
Engineer win tightens up standings- Cornell,Clarkson Sweep
Just as Harvard was threatening to run away from the ECAC pack
the Engineers of Rensselaer revved up the offense to slow down the
Crimson. Joe Juneau's goal at 0:36 of OT gave RPI a sweet 8-7 OT
win at Harvard Saturday night and kept things tight in the ECAC. RPI
never led this game until Derek DeCosty's breakaway goal at 16:07 of
the third period made it 7-6, RPI. But Ted Donato tied the game with
five seconds left in regulation, necessitating Juneau's heroics.
In other ECAC action, Cornell and Clarkson each swept a pair and
Yale pulled off another surprise win, 4-1 at Colgate. The Elis have
beaten Clarkson, St. Lawrence, and Colgate over the past two weekends.
The league passed the one-third mark of the season over the weekend.
Only two league games remain- both this week- before holiday tournaments
take over the schedule.
CORNELL'S KENT MANDERVILLE IS ECAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
With 3-3-6 in two Big Red wins, Cornell's Kent Manderville is
this week's ECAC Player of the Week. The SO RW from Victoria,BC
helped Cornell complete its weekend sweep of Yale and Brown with
2-3-5 in Saturday's win over Brown.
