The Huskies are howling tonight after defeating Michigan 4-2 in the opening
game of the Lefty McFadden Invitational at the Nutter Arena in Dayton Ohio.
Michigan opened the scoring at 10:11 of the first period on a PP goal by
Gajic Mikan with assists to TJ Hensick and Jeff Tambellini. Northeastern tied it
at 0:49 of the second -- Jason Guerriero, assisted by Ray Ortiz. Michigan went
ahead 2-1 after a David Moss from Chad Kolarik goal at 5:37.
The Huskies scored the next two goals all on power plays to go up 3-2 at the
end of the second. First, Josh Robertson from Brian Swiniarski and Tim Judy
at 9:31. then Jason Guerriero (2) from Mike Morris at 15:59.
Northeastern got the only tally of the third from Don Grover with assists to
Ray Ortiz and Jason Guerriero.
Al Montoya had (11-7-12) 30 saves for the Wolverines, Keni Gibson (12-9-10)
had 31 for the Huskies.
NU was 2 for 9 and Michigan 1 for 8 on power plays. NU was penalized 8 times
for 16 minutes, Michigan was 9 for 18.
The three stars were all NU #1 NU Jason Guerriero, #2 Keni Gibson and #3 Don
Grover
BU and Miami (Ohio) were playing in the second game and there was no score
when I left. NU and Miami play in the second game tomorrow night. It's BU and
Michigan in the first.
