OK, I'm sure there have been more bizarre stories involving college hockey,
but I haven't seen one for a while...
According to today's _Post-Standard_, one of the possible reasons for Clark-
son's poor showing against Colgate last Saturday (the Golden Knights lost,
5-2) was that the Clarkson players were wearing the wrong underwear.
[ Let's let that sink in for a minute ]
It seems the Golden Knight freshmen, who are supposed to keep track of "such
things" (I'm guessing they're in charge of team equipment), left the team's
game underwear back at the hotel, and the players had to take the ice in
their civvies. While he didn't come right out and blame the underwear for
the Knights' loss, Clarkson coach Mark Morris did say, "Well, I've got to
believe that is part of it. They just weren't skating at their normal
pace."
Geez. I can't even think of a sarcastic closing line for this one...
