From The January 17,1996 issue of Hockey Night in Boston:
Shattuck-St. Mary's (SSM) plays a 50 game schedule against college jayvee
squads, prep schools, high schools and junior A and B teams.. They offer
"solid academics" as well. Coach (at that time anyway) is Mike Eaves,8 years
in NHL and formerly Head Coach at Wisconsin Eau-Claire and assistant coach
at St. Cloud State,as well as assistant coach with the Flyers and Head Coach
of AHL Hershey Bears.
My input: Besides Clegg of Cornell, Ratchuk of Bowling Green,Conklin of
Harvard and Wallnutt of Denver, freshmen this year in Div I include Boone of
Maine, and Toews of Northeastern. Another fine player, Jeff Tarala, is
spending a year in the NAHL on the St. Louis Sting- joined by two former
teamates I'm not familiar with. And this summer's HNIB Great Lakes team
featured 2 Shattuck players, the Mid West team 3, and the Pacific 7. I
found one upperclassman (Soph) on Army's roster...
