Clarkson beat Princeton, 5-2, in the final reg season home game for
7 seniors: Hugo BElanger, Steve Dubinsky, Guy Sanderson, Mikko Tavi,
martin d'Orsonnens, Dave Green and Chris Rogles.
Things started off much like last night's game with Pricneton
scoring :07 into the game. Clarkson again took a bunch of penalties
and Princeton went up 2-0. However, Clarkson scored 2 quick goals
to tie it up before the 1st intermission. There was no scoring
in the second period as Clarkson killed off a long 5-on-3 penalty
late in the second where CU goalie Jason Currie made some top
notch saves. The score was tied at 2 after 2 but Dave Seitz took
a centering pass and fired it by PU goalie Craig Fiander for a 3-2
lead. Then Todd Marchant broke in and fed a perfect pass to Marko
Tuomainen who fired it by Fiander to make it 4-2. Finally, Brian
Mueller scored with about 4 minutes left to seal the 5-2 final. There
was a near brawl at the end when a PU player got hit near the Clarkson
bench and seemed to take exception (who wouldn't want to be decked into
a bench of 20 hostile men?) and the PU bench emptied. No one was ejected
but the game was over anyways.
Jason Currie rebounded from a weak start (2 goals on his first 2 shots
faced) to make ~22 saves while Fiander was strong stopping ~37 of 42
shots for Princeton.
Brown defeated Dartmouth. SLU blew a 7-3 lead at home over Yale to
finish in an 8-8 tie. (thanks a heck of a lot SLU) Union upset Cornell.
My three stars
1) Hugo Belanger
2) Craig Fiander
3) Jason Currie
box tommorow (hopefully)
