Why does this surprise you? I recall that in 1995, Minnesota beat CC in
Madison after losing to them in the WCHA semi. Was this so bad? I guess
that depends on you perspective. If I were going to the West regional, I
wouldn't mind watching MN vs. UND; it is sure to be a great game (I
acknowledge of course, that MSU is fully capable of beating the Gophers; in
that case however, such bracketing will have avoided the dreaded MSU-MI
game).

The real issue hear is this: should the seeds be designed to get the top
four teams into the phinal phour or not? As it stands, there is a bracket
that has the 6th (Vermont), 7th (BU) and 11th (Denver) ranked teams. This
means that it is *guaranteed* that a team that in the Phinal Phour will not
come from the top four(or top five for that matter) teams in the country!
Whether you are a MN/MI fan or not, if you have purchased tickets to
Milwaukee (as I have), you have to wonder if you are getting your money's
worth.

By the way, North Dakota, which is ranked third, has the best seed beyond a
doubt (at least when compared to the #1 and #2 ranked teams). Go figure.

Minnesota - the most hated team in the WCHA - just the way I like it.
