Id have to agree with Neil,
If Maine had not come out so flat in the first 10 minutes of
play it would have been a lot closer. BU dominated most of the first
period and well into the second. During the second we saw a brief
period of dominance by Maine. In fact I thought it might turn around
slightly in the third. However BU came out steaming to a 7-2 lead.
Kudos to Maine for not giving up at this point. BU got into
penalty touble and Maine rallied 3 unanswered goals to bring it to
7-5 with 2 minutes left. BU got an emptynetter and that was all
she wrote.
Some other notes... Was it me or were no seats sold in section
7 where the BU band is normally. Interestingly the Maine band outnumbered
the BU band in size by a factor of three ;-). But modern electronics
prevailled and it must have been 150 dB in Walter Brown. Did people
move when the BU band (6-10 members max) started playing or were
those seats not sold in anticipation of loud amplified sound...
Its a good thing Coach Walsh practices with loud audience noise. I dont
think even the crowd could endure it much longer.
In the second period intermission, a Maine fan bravely walked
into section 9 waving a Maine flag. Good thing it was spring break.
We dont need any more court cases ;-). Give Maine fans credit, they
were well supported in Walter Brown even with their lack luster
performance.
A fan "tossed back" the puck in the second period from section
eight and hit the linesman in the shoulder by accident. We could
see he wasnt to pleased when someone yelled "Sue us".
A final note...;-) Coach Walsh walked very slowly across the
ice to Jack Parker following the game and shook his hand. ;-) ;-)
He must be reading some of our E-mail.

                                        Take care,
