In an attempt to move away from the officiating debate (frustrated by the
apparent lack of knowledge by a few) I turn my comments to the game.

I thought it was a very exciting game, and I was rooting for overtime all the
way. Wisconsin's defense was again impressive, until they seemed to run out of
gas in the middle of the third period, most likely from all of that hooking,
holding, slashing and grabbing they were doing. Derksen looked like he was
going to have an incredible game based on the first few minutes, and make some
of my earlier comments about him look bad, however he settled down too, and
did not impress me for the duration of the game, including the WEAK short-side
game-winning goal which carromed off him into the goal. Lake Superior came
out a little flat and when they realized they couldn't shoot it through the
bodies of the Wisconsin shot-blocking defense, they started skating to the outsd
outside and working plays from behind the net, which created many more chances.
Clearly working on Derksen's side to side movement which is much less than
impressive. Even in the third, however, Wisconsin had its chances to score
but Madeley Came up big a few times, and one shot hit the cross bar, and
coincidentally the puck came into the stands two rows down and one seat over
from me. (another foot of arms length and I might have had it.)

Congratulations to the Lakers,
I hope to see the Badgers again next year, the general consensus among all of
my friends from this area is that the Badgers had BY FAR the best fans!!!!
