The Soviet Selects (soon to be countryless) beat Team USA 5-2 in the final game
of the USA Cup in the Knick arena in Albany on Saturday night. This same
Soviet team beat Team Canada (minus Lindros) the night before (I think that
score was 4-3). It was kind of embarrasing watching the US team. They
appeared to be instigating fights the whole time. There were spurts where they
looked really good, but after a few minutes, they were back to normal. If they
play anywhere near this level in the Olympics, they won't get far. In fact,
Team USA hasn't won a game since November 17. They're probably tired and
anxious to get home for the holiday's. I just hope they start clicking after
the New Year.
