The August issue of the South Bend Tribune Irish Sports Report published a
blurb which indicates that Notre Dame has been tendered an invitation to
re-join the CCHA for the 1992-93 season.  Notre Dame atheletic director Dick
Rosenthal confirmed to the Tribune that Notre Dame is actively considering the
invitation.  Re-joining the CCHA would mean an increase in the number of
scholarships available to the hockey program.  The cost of hockey scholarships
was one of the reasons cited when the program was cut to club status in 1982.
According to the report, an official announcement is expected soon from Notre
Dame.
