Brown scored 3 goals in the first 3 or so minutes of the game and went on to
defeat the Big Red 7-4 in Meehan tonight. Brown tallied at about :30, 1:00 an
d 3:00 and had Cornell back on their heals, but Skazyk recoved and played well
the rest of the way, facing 19 shots in the 1st period. Cornell scored late in
the period to make the score 3-1 after one.
Cornell closed the gap to 3-2 before Brown tallied to make it 4-2. Each tea
m scored another goal in the period and Brown was up 5-3 after two periods.
The Big Red scored early in the period to bring them within 5-4, but a too m
any men on the ice penalty near the middle of the game gave the Bruins a power
play, which they converted :18 seconds into the power play to make it 6-4. A s
horthanded goal sealed the victory as Brown upped their record to 11-6-3, while
 Cornell fell to 4-6-5(?).
Skazyk played well for Cornell between the posts after the early let down. F
inch was up and down, but got the job done. The referees, Ndeth and Kelly, wer
e suprisingly lenient (a major scuffle in the 2nd only brought 2 from each team
into the box for 2 minutes each, where as a major or at least a double minor w
as warented). There was a good sized crowd at the game, especially considering
the snowfall here today. Tomorrow, Colgate comes to town for an extremely imp
ortant ECAC matchup.
