Bob Mancini, coach for the MTU Huskies, today announced
that Travis Seale will be suspended from the team for
a period of not less than ten weeks. Travis, one of the
MTU's leading players, has had academic problems. The
coach, in compliance with NC$$ rules, could have suspended
Travis until his grades improved (something less than the
quarter length of ten weeks). Travis would still be allowed
to practice with the team under the NC$$ rules. However,
recognizing that the player was in academic trouble, the
Coach wanted Seale to make the improvement without the
pressures of hockey practice.

I think this is a real class act, good for both Travis
Seale and MTU. In the short term, we will be hurt: he
is a very fine player. MTU hasn't won a game since
15 Nov's 4-0 shutout against Wisconsin. But I fully
believe that Coach Mancini is taking a high road. Who
says college hockey is corrupt is not talking about
all teams or even a majority of the teams.
