I find it interesting that the committee allegedly weighs late season
and early season the same but in many cases, it didn't seem like they
did.
TEAMS WHOSE LATE SEASON/TOURNAMENT MAY HAVE GOT THEM IN OR HELPED
THEIR SEEDING A LOT:
Northern Michigan, Brown, Minnesota, LSSU
TEAMS WHOSE LATE SEASON/TOURNAMENT SLIDE MAY HAVE KEPT THEM OUT OR
HURT THEIR SEEDING A LOT:
RPI, Michigan St, Minnesota-Duluth, Wisconsin
This is, in my opinion, cases where late season results may have
had more impact than perhaps they would have if they'd happened
in the early season. In many cases, teams were, in fact, very
close and late season results may have been a tiebreaker
(such as RPI/Brown and MSU/NMU).
I find it odd that late season results may have had a disproportionate
effect on some of these races but not on the Clarkson-Harvard battle
for the #3 east seed or Minnesota-UMD for the #4 west seed.
Oh well... c'est la vie.
(nothing like tournament selection day to overflow the mbox)
