xxI have not seen the score posted yet, so here goes:

LSSU 9 BU 1

Hail to the new National Champions and all that.

Impressions:

Lake State totally dominated this game, from beginning to end. The first
period shots on goal were LSSSU 12, BU 2. At one point in the second, Lake
State was ahead in the shots on goal department by 21-3 and on the scoreboard
by 3-0. At this point, BU showed a brief burst of life and had a couple good
scoring opportunities, one of which they converted (goal by Brennen, not sure
of the assists). However, LSSU quickly regained control of the game and
scored three more goals before the end of the second, includig two more on the
power play, both of which were on stupid penalties by Brennan.

Herlofsky played very well in goal for BU in the first to keep the game close.
He looked a little more shaky in the second, particularly on the fourth LS
goal, which was a wrist shot from the point (by ???) that Herlofsky did not
react to until it was in the goal. McKersie replaced Herlofsky at this point
and did not look good at all. To be honest, this was probably more of a
problem of hte BU defense, which left both netminders hanging out to dry with
regularity. On the other side of the ice, Lacher played a solid game,
syopping BU on those few chances that they did have to score.

I think that BU is a better team than they appeared to be tonight (see
Minnesota game), but they simply had no chance to stop a Lake Stae hockey
machine that was clicking on all eight cylinders. By the third period, the
play had become a little chippy, with BU frustrations apparent and the refs
(Noeth and Hearn from the ECAC) sitting on their whistles. It made little
difference as LSSU aadded three more goals for the final margin of victory.

Sean Tellaire (sp?) was named the MVP of the tournament. He scored two goals
and had two assists against BU and (I believe) 10 points total for the
tournament.

Congratulations to Lake State, better luck to BU next year, and veeryone have
a great off season.
