A while ago, it was noted that a photo of two Maine players, Snow and one
other, was sold at a Maine hockey function, and Steve Kapetanakis made
reference to the situation where Steve Alford of Indiana posed for a
calendar that was sold and he was ruled ineligible.  Kap wondered if this
posed a problem in the Maine situation.  The book I referred to in my
previous post notes that the rule that prohibited student-athletes from
posing in pictures to be sold was changed in 1988.  I did not believe Maine
would have allowed anything like this to be done were it known to be
illegal, and now we know it was definitely ok.
