According to the 12/09 Ann Arbor News, Michigan will be without the
services of forwards Kevin Hilton and Ryan Sittler, and defenseman Blake
Sloan during the Great Lakes Invitational tournament Dec.29-30. The three
Wolverines will be in Czechoslovakia to play for the U.S. National Junior
Team in the World Junior Championships Dec.26-Jan.4.
 
Hilton (7g 5a) and Sloan (0g 3a) have seen action in all 14 games for
the Wolverines, and Sittler (4g 3a) because of a shoulder injury has
played in 9 games.
 
Also, Jason Botterill will miss the two-game home series against UIC
next weekend. He will be in Kitchener, Ont. from Dec.13-18 to try out
for the Canadian National Junior team. Obviously, Botterill will also
miss the GLI if he makes the team. He has 22 pts (13g 9a) in 14 games
for the Wolverines.
 
Finally, Coach Berenson held back Mike Legg from practise this week so
that the freshman could get caught up in his studies. Also, Legg will
not play for the team in the two-game away series against Kent this
weekend. It's a preventative move as Legg is still eligible to play by
NCAA standards. The coach said they will see where Legg is at in his
studies on Monday. If he is not caught up, they will give him another
week off. Legg has 6 pts (5g 1 a) in 12 games for the Wolverines.
 
Warren Luhning fills in for Legg on the line with John Madden and Hilton.
Anton Fedorov(sp?-) takes over Luhning's role on the line with Rick Willis
and Mike Stone.
