This is just to clarify my December 1st letter that I sent over the
network. I had clearly stated that if the Gophers can find good young
talent in their home state, great recruit there. Everybody knows that
Minnesotahas an excellent junior hockey and highschool hockey program.
But everybody also knows there are excellent hockey players in other
states as well as Canada. This brings me to my point. With the emergence
of St. Cloud State joining the WCHA and talk about Mankato State and
Bamidji State possibly turning division I, this will thin out the best
Minnesota recruits. Everybody who disagreed with my letter said its a
"tradition" that they all come from Minnesota. Well usually or
"Traditionally" Minnesota is always on top in the WCHA, now there in the
cellar. Also a player from another state may want to play on Minnesota
while trying to complete an academic field that the University of
Minnesota offers. If a player comes from another country or state and
already is a draft pick for an NHL team, and trys out for Minnesota, it
would be absolutelyhillarious to see one of the coaches say, "Well son
your a great player but your not from Minnesota, sorry".

It also seems quite obvious that the Coaching staff from the University
of Maine new that Jeff Tory was ineligable to play hockey because of
his grades. They tried to get away with one, all Universities have to
follow rules.Since when does Maine think there the exception. They
should forfeit all the games Tory has played in to set an example for
the rest of the NCAA.
