Dear "Droopy" - I'll be glad to send along something, although I'm not s
sure I'm the most qualified NMU member of Hockey-L/D. Anyone else out
there willing to speak for the Wildcats?

P.S. It's really "Brian," isn't it? :-)

On the "who's doing what in the pros?" issue: What's happened with Brad
Werenka? When he graduated from NMU after performing as the concensus
most valuable player of the Wildcats' 1991 national championship Div I
team, I was under the impression knowledgeable observers (especially
Rick Comley) thought he was one of the most outstanding college
defensemen ever produced. I believe he belongs/belonged to Toronto, but
have heard nothing this year about him. (Incidentally, good comments
about Dallas Drake's exhibition season work with the Red Wings continues
to flow back to Marquette. Anyone heard anything about Jim Hiller's
experience with the Kings this year?)

One more note from the pros: A source close to the Wildcats recently
heard from Scott Beattie, who is with an Italian team. Scott reports
he's enjoying playing with people his own height--now he just gets
elbows in the gut, like everyone else, instead of in the face!
I still think Beattie deserves a close look by an NHL team, and suspect
he's hoping a good year or two in Europe may produce that.
