I received this message about a week ago about a possible new format.
Any comments?

Charles,

I see your point, but I was thinking more along the lines of NCAA basketball
tournament with influence of the World Cup. The four regions would be the
Northeast, the East, the Central, and the Midwest. The Northeast would play
there games at Boston, the East would play at New York or Philadelphia, the
Central would play at Columbs or Detroit or Indianapolis, and the Midwest
would play at Minn. or Chicago or St. Louis. The only problem that I see
with this format is the lack of western schools; CC/ Denver. I think the
NCAA and the NHL should try to promote college hockey to schools/ areas with
professional teams; USC, Miami, Ga. Tech, etc. The format would go like
this: let's say the 12 teams are Mich, UND, Minn, CC, Denver, Mich. State,
BC, BU, Mich. Tech, N. Mich, (I can't think of two eastern schools so I am
guessing) NH, and UConn. Let's also say the ranking goes like this:1-Mich,
2-CC, 3-BC, 4-Minn, 5-Denver, 6-Mich. State, 7-UND, 8-BU, 9-Mich. Tech,
10-N. Mich, 11-UNH, 12-UConn. The tournament would go like this:
Central Region-Detroit
1.Mich.
2.BU
3.Mich. Tech
Northeast Region-Boston
1.Minn.
2.Denver
3.UConn
Midwest Region-Minn.
1.CC
2.UND
3.N. Mich.
East Region-Philadelphia
1.BC
2.Mich. State
3.UNH
then the games would go as follows:
Game1: 1
        2 vs. 3
Game2: 2
        1 vs. 3
Game3: 3
        1 vs. 2

win-3pts
tie-1pt
if a tie between two teams for the spot in final four:ratio of GF to GA

does this make any sense?

Jon
