I was at work so I only saw the last few minutes of the Bronze medal game
in which Russia beat the Czech Republic 4-1, a much more important win
than the Czech's defeat of the Russians in the first round robin game of
the tournament.  We have since found out that many on the Russian team
had the flu in the days leading up to and early in the tournament.  This
may provide some explanation of why the Russians improved game by game,
but another one may be that this is their typical pattern anyway.
