Northern Michigan's home unbeaten streak came to an end Friday night
when Michigan Tech handed the Wildcats a 3-2 loss before 3,833 fans
at Marquette's Lakeview Arena.

Goaltending was brilliant at both ends of the ice with NMU's freshman
Corwin Saurdiff stopping 32 shots and Tech's Geoff Sarjeant making 40
saves. It was the first time NMU lost at home since Jan. 12, 1990
and the first time the Wildcats lost a game in which they had at
least 40 shots on goal since Feb. 23, 1989.

Scott Beattie scored his fourth goal for NMU, while Mark Beaufait
tallied his fifth for the 'Cats. John Young, Hugh McEwen and Jim
Storm countered for Tech.

NMU was 2-for-6 on the PP, while Tech was 2-for-7.
