The Brown Annual Hockey Banquet was held last night at the Sheraton
Tara Hotel, in Warwick, Rhode Island. In attendance were the members of
the 1994-95 team, the coaching staff, players' families, a handful of
faculty and staff members, and many alumni and friends of Brown hockey.
The event was sponsored by the Brown Hockey Association.

The toastmaster was Robert E. Borah, of the class of 1955, a legendary
defensive defenseman, who was selected to the First All-East and
the First All-Ivy squads during his senior year. The invocation
was given by junior defenseman James E. Mooney (Calgary, Alberta).

Before the dinner, BHA President Len Ranalli presented Bob Gaudet
with a gift in recognition of his choice as the 1995 ECAC Coach of the
Year. Gaudet has just signed a four-year extension to his contract with
Brown.

The following awards were presented:
1. The Charles A. Robinson Memorial Trophy for Academic Excellence,
given to the senior letterman attaining the highest academic average,
went to forward Kim Hannah (Mankota, Saskatchewan).

2. The Charles A. Lanigan Memorial Trophy, given to the senior who has
shown the most improvement during his varsity career, went to
   defenseman Patrick Thompson (Halifax, NS).

3. The Patrick S. Jones Memorial Trophy, given to that member of the
varsity who generates the most spark and enthusiasm in building team
spirit, went to Captain defenseman Mike Traggio (Portland, CT).

4. The Class of 1936 Hockey Trophy (essentially, the MVP award), given to
that player who, through sportsmanship, performance, and influence,
contributed the most to the sport at Brown, went to forward Eric
   Trach (Mahopack, NY).

The following players were recognized for post-season awards:
   Mike Traggio (D): First-Team All-ECAC, First-Team All-Ivy, ECAC Best
Defensive Defenseman (for the second consecutive year)

Ryan Mulhern (F): First-Team All-Ivy, Ivy League Player of the Year,
      Honorable Mention All-ECAC

   Mike Parsons (G): First-Team All-Ivy, Honorable Mention All-ECAC

   Patrick Thompson (D): Second-Team All-Ivy

Jimmy Andersson (D): Ivy League Rookie of the Year, ECAC All-Rookie
      Team

In his address Coach Bob Gaudet praised the senior class for their
accomplishments as members of the Brown hockey team. During their
four years at Brown, Brown had four consecutive winning seasons,
(including three consecutive seasons with at least fifteen wins), and
finished fifth, third, fourth, and second in the ECAC respectively.
Brown participated in four ECAC tournaments (including two trips to
Lake Placid for the ECAC Final Four) and one NCAA tournament. This year
Brown won the sixth Ivy League title in school history (the second
in this decade).

Coach Gaudet also introduced the 1995-96 Co-Captains, Ryan Mulhern
(Havertown, PA) and Charlie Humber (Mississauga, ONT).

The Ivy League Trophy was, unfortunately, not in display, After the 1992
season the 1991 champions (Brown) delivered the trophy to the 1992
champions (Yale). Yale delivered the trophy to Harvard in 1993, but
evidently Harvard, keeper of the trophy for the past two seasons, has
managed to lose it. The trophy is a large silver shield, with inter-
locking hockey sticks.

Can someone explain what is the matter with Harvard these days?
