Former, LSSU Laker Jim Dowd was also called up by the New Jersey Devils
early this week.  It's his second trip up this year, or so I'm told.

And he had a goal and three assists in his first game.
Here in central New Jersey Jim is a local hero, having played his high-school
hockey at near-by Brick Township High. Everytime he's called up, the papers
are full of local-boy-makes-good stories. From what I remember, LSSU was the
only school to recruit Jim.
 
I was reminded of Jim when I read a post from last week pooh-pooh'ing high
school hockey in western Pennsylvania. They actually play
good hockey all across the nation, even in central New Jersey.
