   I would have hoped this was old news by now, but IMHO, this was no
   different than any other violation.  Cal played in 14 games when he
   was not eligible, thus the next 14 games will take those Fall 91
   games' place.  No *punishment* was given to Cal, since the NCAA
   deemed that is was simply a mistake (it was really a collection of
   mistakes by the school that led to the problem.;  It was mistake by
   Cal to think that failing a course would have no effect on
   eligibility, yet he may have been given bad advice from the school
   due to the school's mistakes in entering data).
 
   Maine played 14 games with an ineligible player in Fall 91.  In any
   league under any governing body I have ever heard of, if you play an
   ineligible player, you will forfeit that game.
 
   IMHO Maine was *not* penalized (further) because they were able to
   show that it was a series of mistakes, none of which were intentional,
   that led to the problem *and* Maine has made corrections to its
   procedures and staffing so that it shouldn't happen again.
 
Here's hoping the BU at Maine series this weekend is a barn-burner,
