From the Minnesota Daily this morning:
Yesterday the Gophers filled the void of no team captain by electing Senior
defenseman Travis Richards.
A four year starter for the Gophers, Richards led the defense with 10 goals
and 23 assists last year, earning All-WCHA Second Team honors along the way.
Richards graduated from Armstrong High School in 1988, and was redshirted
during the 1988-89 season while his older brother Todd, served as captain.
Alternate captains will be John Brill, Craig Johnson, and Scott Bell.
Also from the Daily today in the same article:
Thirteen new faces join Minnesota's roster this season <and boy can we use
them!!!! ;-)> including highly touted Brian Bonin of White Bear Lake, who was
elected Minnesota's Mr Hockey in 1992.
Nine of the newcomers are TRUE freshmen, although many have spent time with the
St. Paul Vulcans of the U.S.Hockey League. Incoming '92 grads include: Bonin,

Moen (Roseville), Matt Stelljes (Osseo), Dan Trebil (Jefferson), Charlie
Wasley (edina, Vulcans), and Greg Zwackman (Edina, Vulcans).
Ryan Alstead of Wayzata was recruited by head coach Doug Woog last year, but
has joined the team as a walk-on this fall and is likely to play with the junio
junior varsity this winter.
Vulcans veterans Mike McAlpine (South St Paul), Jim Hillman (Blaine), Dave
Larson (South St Paul), and Dan Woog (South St Paul) fill out the rookie
