Finally, the answer to one of the hottest questions of the summer,
namely, just what kind of recruiting year did Cornell have? Here
are the newcomers mentioned in the 1992-93 Cornell hockey
prospectus.

Goalies: none

Defensemen: Dan Dufresne (6-2, 185), Notre Dame (Sask.) Hounds,
Glens Falls, NY; Steve Hayden (6-2, 190), Northwood Prep, St.
Johns, Nfld.; Bill Holowatiuk (6-1, 190), Sherwood Park, Edmonton,
Alb.; Tim Shean (5-10, 170), Burnsville HS, Minneapolis, MN; Greg
Ratushny (6-0, 190), Nepean, Ont. [Ratushny will miss the season
due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident over the
summer.]

Centers: Brad Chartrand (5-11, 175), St. James, Winnipeg, Man.;
Geoff Lopatka (6-2, 190), Ft. Saskatowan, Edmonton, Alb.; John
DeHart (5-10, 170), Penticton, Penticton, BC

Wingers: Pierre Claude Drouin (6-2, 180), Gloucester Rangers,
Montreal, Que.; Mark Scollan (5-11, 165), Melville, Regina, Sask.;
Mike Sancimino (6-4, 190), Compuware, Detroit, MI; Joel McArter,
Milton, Toronto, Ont. [Also Jiri Kloboucek (5-11, 172), Zelena,
Czechoslovakia, who was ineligible last year]

Total of 12 freshmen (one of whom won't be able to play) and one
sophomore (I think). The one thing that strikes me from a brief
glance at the list is how many players there are from Western
Canada.
