With his six-point night (1 g, 5 a) in tonight's 7-1 Black Bear win, Martin
Kariya joined several people, including both his brothers Paul and Steve, in
the UMaine record books for the most points in a game. He also tied a
record, with Paul, for most assists in a game with his five helpers tonight.
Both Martin and Steve certainly took longer to develop than Paul did, but
Martin has certainly found his game. His performance is also even more
impressive when you consider that the Kariya's father, Tetsuhiko, passed
away only days ago on December 27.
Of course the question Maine fans are really asking is will Martin do what
both Paul and Steve did, lead the Black Bears to a national championship?
Regards,
Deron
