As Milwaukee Madness gets underway tomorrow, a couple of minor
matters come to mind:
Does anyone out there have the same tight schedule trying
to make the 12 Noon CST Thursday semi as our group does that will be
travelling from the East coast? We fly out of Providence at 7:10 EST and
arrive Milwaukee around 10:30 a.m. CST. Not too much margin for delay when
you need to get from airport to hotel, check-in and make it to Bradley by
game time. Whatever happened to the 2:00 p.m. start for the first
semifinal game? Probably a TV-driven decision. I understand that the fans
are somewhat down the NC$$ priority list, but given the fact that the first
semi has regressed from 5:00 to 3:00 to 2:00 p.m. to Noon over the years,
can we expect breakfast to be part of the ticket package for a mid-morning
start at the Fleet in Boston or thePond in Anaheim?
And, whatever happened to the good ole days when the NC$$
had a tourney t-shirt printed for each of the Frozen Four teams in their
school colors? For the past 5 years all we've been offered is a "one color
suits all" or an "all four teams featured" garment. I realize that it's
more economical to produce a neutral shirt and thereby not have to worry
about being left with heavy supplies of a customized tee produced for fans
of a semi-final game loser only three hours after they were put on display,
but I still yearn for a return to team colors.
Can't wait for another opportunity to enjoy the fabulous
Bradley Center (and put the painful Cincy (Riverfront) Coliseum memories
behind once and for all) and see four great college hockey teams vie for
the 50th anniversary national championship.
