I listened to this game while warding off 10-degree weather plus
a wind chill, bell-ringing for the Salvation Army. The broadcast
on my headphone radio sure helped the time pass more pleasantly.

This sounded like a tremendous game to watch. I presume some of the
Gopher faithful will be giving us their eye-witness accounts. 43 saves
for Corwin Saudiff! Pretty good for a 19-year-old freshman! Shots on
goal aren't everything--but I'm hoping the differential for today's
game won't be as great as yesterday's! (BTW, do "shots on goal" stats
include only goalie saves plus goals? If so, that understates a bit
a team's attack effort. In yesterday's game, for example, the announ-
cer said onceor twice other Wildcats made saves while Saudiff was
dow after making an earlier save.

That was a huge 2 points for the Wildcats (not to mention their first-
ever win in Mariucci(sp?), and their first of any kind in five or six
years). BTW also, Rick Comley said on his postgame interview that
those present got to see the season's first "real Scott Beattie goal"
which ended the scoring. Sounded like Scott really undressed the
winger who got caught trying to cover him on the break, and then he
made a real nifty move on the goalie as well.

(Thought it would be smart to get this posted beforthe second game
of today!)
