It was reported on the 11 o'clock evening news by local sports
anchor Dale Duff that University of Maine right winger Jean-Yves
Roy will sign a pro contract with the New York Rangers for some-
where in the neighborhood of $300,000.
 
Roy, who would be a senior at Maine this fall, is Maine's top
goal scorer of all-time and fifth in points in Black Bears
history. Duff, an experienced long-time sports anchor in the
Bangor area has always had the inside scoop on such quiet breaking
University of Maine hockey news such as this.
 
For Maine fans, this is a very disappointing move on Roy's part,
as he has always factored heavily in Maine's national title hopes.
