UMD Gets Pohl. Could Spehar follow? :)

From the Duluth News Tribune
****************
Mark Pohl, who played in four Minnesota state high school hockey
tournaments at Red Wing, signed a letter of intent to skate for
Minnesota-Duluth next season.

Pohl, a 6-foot, 205-pound forward, had 47 goals and 44 assists for 91
points in 28 games last season, and was third-team all-state. He had 110
goals and 223 points in five seasons at Red Wing and is the younger brother
of the state's all-time scoring leader, Johnny Pohl, a freshman at
Minnesota. Red Wing won the 1997 Class A state title.

The Bulldogs have also received letters of intent from high school seniors
Jon Francisco of Hermantown, John Conboy of Silver Bay and Rob Anderson of
Superior.

Francisco, a center, helped the Hawks to consecutive state-tournament
appearances; Conboy, a defenseman, led Silver Bay to state this season; and
Anderson, a goalie, played the past two seasons for the Green Bay Gamblers
of the U.S. Hockey League.

UMD also has oral commitments from forward Josh Miskovich and defenseman
Beau Geisler of Greenway of Coleraine; center Andy Sacchetti of
Eveleth-Gilbert; and goalie Adam Coole, who played at Rochester of the USHL
after graduation from Duluth East. Some of those may play in the USHL next
season, since UMD loses only three players to graduation.

Also of note I saw about 6 hockey players running a mile on the track
today. One of them said of Lucia, "He's not our favorite person right now
(because of the laps), but he will be." Good attitude for the coming year.
