Arron states "a "live" animal either a gopher
or rat was thrown on the ice after the sioux scored their first goal."

I agree, it is very hard to tell the difference between a gopher and a
rat.

Doesn't either Cornell or Clarkson throw a fish (Great Lakes version)
onto the ice when the first goal is scored? Fish are not animals, but it
is thrown. St. Cloud also throws Gophers when the opportunity arises.
One hit Woog on the shoulder at the end of the last Gopher-Huskie game
and Woog whined (sorry, redundancy) about it to his buddy Frank Mizocco
(sp?) about it on the local TV show, and I was wodering how either of
them could tell the difference between a dead Gohper on the sholder and
a toupee? A couple of years ago, Denver's upper deck fans got penalized
for throwing chicken (wings) on the ice at Wisconsin. Why I forget.

This is a hockey tradition long in the tooth -- dating back at least to
the Olympia arena octopus in the 1950's. As long as it is not heated
coins or other dangerous debris, it does not bother me.
