The answer depends on what you think you have more control over; your ability
to put together  random scores from "non scorers", or your ability to prevent
scores using "non preventers".
 
There is also a matter of offensive defensemen and defensive forwards.
 
In my opinion, it's better to have scorers, because they can be more
effective "helping" on defense than defensemen can be "helping" on offense.
 Which, I guess, is akin to saying that it's easier to bottle up your own
zone than it is to penetrate someone else's.  Or that defense is easier than
offense.  I know the Army thinks that way; they teach that, all other things
being equal (technology, intelligence, leadership, etc) it takes more
firepower/energy to attack than to defend.
