Articles on any of the college hockey lists are property of their authors.
 
  They are available freely via whatever mechanisms might exist for the
  college hockey mailing lists, with permission of the list owner (me).
  That is, you can subscribe to the lists, redistribute the lists or
  archive the lists, with my permission.  Yet individual articles belong
  to their authors.  For example, USA Today may not publish this article
  (not that they'd want to!) without my (as author) permission.  USA
  Today does not need permission (as list owner) to publish this or any
  individual article.  USA Today would need my (as list owner)
  permission to publish the entire list content.  (I use "USA Today" as
  simply a familiar publisher name.  The same would be said for USCHO,
  BDN or Michigan State Free Press (if there is such a thing)).
 
If by reprinting you mean copying a published article from some other
source to Hockey-L, then yes, COPYRIGHT LAW DOES APPLY.  We ask you
not to copy, for example, newspaper articles to Hockey-L without permission.
 
Some publishers will give you a blanket OK for certain types of articles
(for example, no byline or not AP/Reuters), whereas others will say no
or will want to OK individual articles.  You need to check.
