I can't help but comment that I am not a UIC alum and I am still ticked
off by this.  There is absolutely no excuse for the administration, at
least, to not show up and honor student-athletes who have made a
sacrifice and shown a commitment to the institution.  As an outsider,
this does not give me a very good feeling about the people who run UIC.
 
I also believe that the coaches should have been there to honor their
players and that awards should have been given, but at least as far as
the coaches go, I can somewhat understand them not showing up since
they had been let go.  Still, I believe the kids come first and people
should have acted accordingly.
 
Avrom, thanks for these two posts and your effort to keep us aware of
what was going on at UIC for the last few years.  I hope you will
continue to support the game, even though UIC will not field a team.
And I'm sorry for all of the UIC players, parents, staff, and
supporters that they had to go through this whole deal.
