Well, after much anticipation, my World Junior Championships information
package finally arrived today. Although it is stuffed full of information,
a single 8.5 x 11" sheet of paper with a mediocre photocopy job is not
what I figured the delay was all about (see my post of god-only-knows-how-
long-ago). The information below starts out general, and gets more
specific towards the end. Any errors are most likely mine, so don't blame
the organizers, and make sure you verify the info before acting upon it.
I am not affiliated with any of the sanctioning organizations (except in
my capacity as a USA Hockey parent, coach, and on-ice official), and stand
to realize no personal gains from the distribution of this information.

Competing Nations: USA, Canada, Russia, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Czech
Republic, Ukraine, Switzerland, Slovakia.
1995 Medalists: (1) Canada (2) Russia (3) Sweden
Format: 2 pools of 5 teams play round robin, leading to qualifying round
(top 3 in each pool) or relegation round (bottom 2 from each pool). The
winners of the qualifying round meet the the winners in each pool in the
semifinals followed by the bronze and gold medal games.
Television: The '96 WJC will be broadcast by national cable networks in
USA, Canada, and Europe. This is a major sports event in Canada, Finland,
Sweden, and Russia.

All ticket orders will be filled with best available seats at the time

Ticket Packages and Discounts

Team USA Packages (2 ticket, 2 game minimum- prelims only): You can save
up to $6 off any Non-USA preliminary round game with the purchase of a
Team USA Ticket. Payment for Non-USA game ticket must be included at the
time of purchase of USA game tickets.
Ten Game package: For $99 you can customize any ten game package to the
WJC. Single tickets to the qualifying round, semifinals and medal round
will count as 2 tickets per day. Example: 6 prelim round games + semis(2)
+ medal round(2) = 10 tickets.
Qualifying round, Semifinal, and Medal Round Games:
A single ticket will be issued to cover the admission to both games in
each round.
Medal Round 4 game package:
You can save up to $12 off the purchase price when you purchase the
semifinal and medal round games as a package.
Senior and Children's Discount: Under 12 and over 60 are eligible for a
discount of up to $3 off the price of individual game tickets. Proof
of age is required.
Discounts for Groups/Travel Packages: Groups of 20 or more can save up to
$3 off individual game tickets. All tickets must be purchased at the same
time. No additional discounts apply. Sports Tours, Inc. "Official Travel
Manager" of the Championship has specially priced "WJHC" travel packages
including reduces rates on hotels, transportation, and game tickets.
