The BG hockey fans were so wild back in the late 70s that
Sports Illustrated did an article on them.
 
Today, some of the old traditions live on. Some don't.
 
There really is no reason to line up outside before the game,
since now we have plenty of seats for everyone. The added seats
have dispersed the fans a bit, so things don't seem as intense.
But when the place is sold out and the Falcons score, it is
certainly louder than ever.
 
It is not as loud as it used to be in between scores and at
the end of a close game, but it is still louder than at most
of the other CCHA rinks.
 
We still do "Who's he, nobody" at the opposing team, even
though the league tried to legislate against it (by having the
players skate around during introductions) several years ago.
 
The "youngsters" have added what they consider their own cheer,
the "See ya" when an opponent gets a penalty. They actually stole
it from the Michigan fans, who were the first to do it in this area.
 
No longer do large groups yell out in unison at refs, players,
coaches, other fans or university presidents. With the raised glass,
no longer do fans torment the opposition to the point of getting
squirted or having their mother dump Pepsi on them.
 
Still a lot of fun being a BG fan, tho.
