Mich., with opening faceoff slated for 7:35 p.m. Saturday's (Nov. 5)
contest will shift to the Lakeview Arena (4,105) in Marquette, Mich. Game
time is 7:05 p.m.

The Broadcast: All Michigan Tech games can be heard live on WZRK radio,
93.5 FM. Bob Olson, the dean of broadcasters in the Western Collegiate
Hockey Association, is in his 24th season as the voice of the Huskies.
Volunteer assistant coach Darcy Way is back for his fifth year providing
color commentary.

are coming off a series split at home with Denver. Northern Michigan enters
the week with a 2-2-0 record overall and a 1-1-0 mark in the WCHA. The
Wildcats split a league series at St. Cloud State last weekend.

The Coaches: Bob Mancini (Colorado College, 1982) is in his third year
behind the bench at MTU. He owns a 33-43-11 record at the school and in
five years as a college head coach sports a 69-75-23 mark. Rick Comley
(Lake Superior State, 1972) is in his 19th season as head coach at
Northern Michigan. He owns a 400-285-38 mark. In his 22nd season as a
college head coach, Comley, who also serves as NMU's athletic director, is
459-331-41.

The Series: Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan will meet for the 71st and
72nd times ever this weekend. In the all-time series, one that began during
the 1979-80 season, NMU holds a 34-31-5 advantage.

Coach Mancini on the NMU Series: "The series is one of the greatest
rivalries in college hockey. I'm sure fans are going to see two very
entertaining hockey games. Northern Michigan is an excellent hockey club. I
was very impressed that they were able to go into St. Cloud and split. This
weekend will be full of emotion and I know our players are very much
looking forward to it."

About Northern Michigan: Northern Michigan is led by senior center Greg
Hadden. The Coquitlam, B.C., native has played in all four games and has
four goals and two assists, good for six points. Other top point getters
for the Wildcats include sophomore center Dean Seymour (1-4--5), freshman
right wing Aaron Cain (1-3--4), senior center Bill MacGillivray (1-3--4),
senior right wing Scott Green (2-1--3), and senior defenseman/center Jason
Hehr (2-1--3). In goal, both sophomore Dieter Kochan and freshman Keith
Bartholomaus have played. Kochan is 1-2-0 with a 4.96 goals against
average and an .835 saves percentage. Bartholomaus, who picked up his first
collegiate win at St. Cloud State last Saturday (Oct. 29), is 1-0-0, to go
with a 3.00 goals against average and an .870 saves percentage.

Last Week: Michigan Tech split a WCHA series at home against the Denver
Pioneers last weekend. Friday (Oct. 28), MTU gained a 4-2 victory.
Sophomore forward Kyle Peterson (Thunder Bay, Ont.) staked MTU to a 1-0
lead after one period with his first goal of the season at :53. Senior left
wing Brent Peterson (Thunder Bay, Ont.) tallied a 5-on-3 power play goal at
12:09 of the second and junior center Pat Mikesch (Hancock, Mich.) scored a
shorthanded goal at 19:46, to give MTU a 3-0 edge after 40 minutes. DU cut
the lead to 3-2 with goals at 10:38 and 13:22 of the third, but senior
defenseman Liam Garvey (Glenwood, Ill.) iced the game for the Huskies with
an empty-net goal at 19:38. Sophomore goaltender Luciano Caravaggio
(Etobicoke, Ont.) made 29 saves in the win as the Huskies outshot the Pioneers 38-31. Saturday (Oct. 29),
despite outshooting the Pioneers 36-25, MTU came up on the short end of a
4-2 decision. DU led 1-0 after one period and 3-0 after two, before Pat
Mikesch put the Huskies back in the game with a 4-on-3 power play goal
just 1:26 into the third period. DU, however, went up 4-1 on Anders Bjork's
goal at 15:34, before Kyle Peterson closed out the scoring just :23 later.
Luciano Caravaggio had 21 saves in the contest, while DU's Jim Mullin
picked up the win with 34 stops.

Huskies Hints: Senior right wing Randy Stevens (Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.)
played his first games of the season last weekend against Denver. Stevens
was on the injured reserve list since Sept. 3 after tearing muscles in his
shoulder and chest during fall testing . . . The Huskies shut down Denver
on the power play last weekend, allowing the Pioneers just one power play
goal in 14 attempts (.929 penalty-killing efficiency) . . . Junior center
Pat Mikesch (Hancock, Mich.) has at least one point in each of MTU's
opening five games. Already with four goals to his credit, Mikesch has
scored shorthanded, on the power play, and even strength. Incidentally,
Mikesch entered the season averaging one goal every three games in his
career . . . MTU's victory over Denver Friday (Oct. 28) meant the Huskies
were undefeated through their first four games. Not since 1974-75 had an
MTU team accomplished that feat . . . Coach Bob Mancini is 9-3-1 in the
month of October as head coach of the Huskies . . . For the first time in
three years, MTU did not sweep its first home WCHA series . . . For the
first time in their collegiate careers, brothers Kyle and Brent Peterson
(Thunder Bay, Ont.) both scored in the same game. It happened Friday (Oct.
28) in MTU's 4-2 win over Denver . . . The Huskies have scored at least one
power play goal in each of their first five games . . . Freshman forward
Craig Perrett (Calgary, Alta.) was disqualified from Friday's (Oct. 28)
game with Denver for fighting . . . Seven new members were inducted into
Michigan Tech's Sports Hall of Fame last Saturday (Oct. 29) including
hockey players Rick Best, John Kosiancic, and George Hill. Bob Olson, the
longtime voice of the Hockey Huskies, was also inducted . . . Michigan Tech
has outshot its opponent in four of the first five games. The Huskies are
outshooting their opponent by a combined 211-124 . . . Sophomore goaltender
Luciano Caravaggio (Etobicoke, Ont.) is off to a fast start with a 3-1-1
record, 2.76 goals against average, and .911 saves percentage.
