Have to admit that I'm a little surprised by this, but with Jim Carey
coming back, anything's possible. Anyway, the Badgers came out okay
of a good news/bad news situation recently. Jason Zent, a top goal-
scorer for UW a year ago, didn't make the US olympic team, but since
he didn't he'll be back to play for Wisconsin. Having Zent, and his
rocket-like slapshot back, should ease the loss of Dan Plante. It's
also been speculated that Dan Tompkins, who had 22 goals and 48 assists
with Omaha of the USHL last year, will contribute as a freshman for
UW. Still, senior forwards Zent, Blaine Moore, Andrew Shier, Chris
Tucker, Rob Granato and Mike Doers will make it tough for Tompkins
   to break the third line.
