While watching the CBC broadcast on Directv of last nights Edmonton 2-1 OT
victory over Dallas, I counted 7 former college hockey players on the
Edmonton roster, including both tallies scored by CCHA alums.
Another great stat: Every playoff team roster in 2001 features at least one
former college hockey player.
Historically, the New Jersey Devils put out a line up sprinkled with former
college puckster including five this year Corkum, McKay, Madden, Pandolfo
and Rafalski. Edmonton played last night Poti and Grier from BU, Carter,
Horcroft and Murray from MSU, Marchant from Clarkson, Comrie from UM and
Captain Doug Weight from LSSU.
Anyone remember an NHL playoff roster with greater than 1/3 of the icemen
playing coming from the college ranks?
