they fly. For the WCHA, it is also less of a problem during the regular
season, becuase the games are almost always Friday and Saturday night,
without a Sunday game. It does mean missing 1 (friday) or 2 (thursday
and friday) days of school on the week of a road trip. Take only 8 or 9
road trips (for the league regular season), and probably 1 or 2 of those
is during a school vacation, and it isn't so bad.
Having worked for a WCHA team for 5 years (I won't mention any names), I =
can say that this statement is almost correct. On a regular road trip =
these teams (minus CC vs. DU) would always miss at least their thurs. =
classes, and sometimes their wed. classes. For teams traveling to their =
barns, they would almost always miss at least part, if not all, of =
their wed. classes. It isn't always easy to get a good flight time with =
no layovers out of Houghton or Marquette, even though they plan their =
traveling in early summer. Needless to say, playoffs are hell if the =
series lasts three games.
