I'd agree that we don't have any "right to know" on an individual athlete's
basis.  However, athletic departments at state-supported schools are
under pressure to produce such statistics, as these types of "factoids" get
scrutiny from legislators when it comes time to draw up budget appropriations.
An image of "Jock U" doesn't go over well with a lot of taxpayers, so I'm not
at all suprised to see this type of PR release.
