I have no idea what Stelljes expected would happen when he did that.  "Oh, never
mind then."  Kind of a strange move, since he wound up with the minor-misconduct

The call was, at the very least, unfortunate.  During the stoppage in play,
Cornell defenseman Steve Wilson skated over to the bench for a drink of water or
something, and he skated back as the teams were getting set for the faceoff.
 Cole looked up and, apparently thinking Wilson was coming off the bench to
replace somebody, waved him back.  Wilson protested, and the call was made.  I
don't know whether this could have been rectified once the penalty was called,
but Coach Schafer was irritated that Cole never went over to the bench to
explain what was going on.
