The Clarkson Golden Knights picked up their biggest win of the year
tonight in a very good game, defeating a fine RPI team by a 3-1 score. This
was the roughest, hardest-hitting Clarkson game I've witnessed this season,
as a big RPI squad seemed to be trying to intimidate. The Knights held their
ground, however, and a few not-so-smart penalties hurt the Engineers. Chris
Rogles was stellar in goal for Clarkson, particularly in fending off a few
flurries of shots in a scoreless third period. Clarkson goals were scored by
Mueller, Tuomainnen and Sanderson (the first and third are defensemen); the
entire team played well.
A large contingent of loyal RPI fans and band members made the trip to
the frozen north country to attend the game. As Clarkson is on winter break,
the Knights had fewer student fans than usual in attendance, and a scaled
down band. All supported their team admirably, however.
Tomorrow night Clarkson hosts Union while RPI travels to St. Lawrence.
